Alex Ruiz is an innovative cyber security professional with proven leaderships skills and 17+ years of experience in Application Security, Penetration Testing, Information Assurance, and Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) in Federal and Financial Sectors. As the Director for Information Security Office, Card Branded Book at Capital One, he is responsible for leading a team to provide consulting services to the Line of Business (LOB) on various cyber security threats, risk, assessments and remediation approaches. Additionally, he provides strategic and tactical input to the LOB mission on addressing their cyber security challenges. As the Information Security Assurance Director at Freddie Mac he led enhancements in Vulnerability Management and Reporting, and was the lead strategist in establishing the Development Security Operations (DevSecOps) methodology and technology approach. During his time at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), he led innovations in Ongoing Authorization, Social Engineering Training, and Mobile Security. Alex Ruiz received the SANS “People Who Made a Difference In Security in 2013” Award for his contributions and leadership to the ICE Social Engineering Training program. Alex received his Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages from Radford University and is a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP).
